The Honolulu Orchid Society closed out the calendar year with a festive pot luck dinner on Wednesday (12/12/12) night at the Lanakila Elementary School Cafeteria. About 50 members and guests enjoyed the dinner and festivities. As expected, the food and desserts were outstanding. Most attendees had seconds. There was a variety of main dishes to choose from. This only shows part of the line of food.For some, sharing orchid culture tips was more important than food.This was the beginning of the food line.Food was in ample supply.Everyone took some of each.There was a traffic jam at times.People were always smiling.Randy complained that the plate was too small.A lot of conversation occurred in between chewing.Some used forks; others used chop sticks.Inez’s daughter got married earlier in the day. She still found time to make it to the HOS function.After dinner, a lucky number game was held.Winners could choose a plant, book, sphagnum moss or a tweezer for their prize.People waited for their lucky number to be called.Some people needed a box to carry their winnings.
