HOS Wins First and Second Place Trophies at Weekend Shows

The Honolulu Orchid Society captured the 1st Place Trophy for the Best Large Display at the 59th Annual Kunia Orchid Show held March 22-24 at the Leilehua High School Gymnasium.  HOS also won the 2nd Place Trophy for the Table Top Displays held the same weekend at the 33rd Annual Windward Spring Orchid Show at the King Intermediate School Gym.  Displays for both shows were constructed on Thursday, March 21.  Williette Wong and Carol De Witt co-chaired the setup at the Kunia Show and Dr. Inge White chaired the set-up at the Windward Show.  The photos below were taken at the Kunia Orchid Show.  Click on the photos for a larger image.

In the early stages of construction, Vivian McCoy and Carol De Witt wrap the pots of the plants with black fabric. The fabric helps to hide the unattractive pots in the display.
