Growing Cattleyas Will Be Topic of July Meeting

Calvin Kumano from Pearl City will be the featured speaker at the July 10 general membership meeting of the Honolulu Orchid Society.  His presentation will cover the basic principles of  Cattleya culture including planting, dividing and caring of the plants.  Calvin is one of the best growers of orchids on the island.  His plants always win trophies at orchid shows.  At the Aiea Orchid Show a few weeks ago, his Blc. Williette Wong won the Best Yellow Cattleya trophy and the Best Hawaiian Bred Orchid trophy.  His Dtps Momilani Sweetheart also won the Best Phalaenopsis trophy.  Calvin is president of the Aiea Orchid Club and a member of the Honolulu Orchid Society.  The meeting which will be held in the Lanakila Elementary School Cafeteria starts at 7:00 PM.  Guests are more than welcome to attend.  Refreshments will be served.
