In Bloom – Laelia purpurata

It must be the blooming season for L. purpurata as several are in bloom in my orchid collection.  One of my favorites is pictured below.  I got this plant from Orchid Center a few years ago.  It is a cross of L. purpurata var. flammea ‘Xint’ and L. purpurata var. rosada ‘Dark Hsinying’.  The plant is growing in orchid bark mix in a 5-inch plastic pot.  The plant receives afternoon sun under 50 percent shade cloth.  (Article and photo submitted by Mel Waki.)
