Abe’s Childhood Train Makes It to Ewa Orchid Show

Abe’s Childhood Train Makes It to Ewa Orchid Show

Calvin Abe’s childhood choo choo train was featured in the Honolulu Orchid Society display at the Ewa Orchid Show.  The beautiful display was constructed on Thursday, July 18 under the leadership of Williette Wong and Carol De Witt.  Calvin’s original plan was to power up the train so it would run on tracks in the display.  That idea had to be scrapped when it was found that it would be too difficult to lay all the tracks in the crowded display.  The Ewa Orchid Show was held July 19-21 at the Ewa Elementary School cafeteria.

  1. Mahalo to a wonderful team, especially Cal and Sherry Abe. Win or lose, we all had a good time working in the swelting heat. I’m so glad we didn’t have to go back this evening to judge. Thanks again for a great job.

  2. Nicely done…much more fun to work in a group. What was the theme of the show that the model train was used?
