Calvin Kumano Wows Members with Phalaenopsis Presentation at April Meeting

Calvin Kumano was the featured speaker at the April meeting of the Honolulu Orchid Society.  The meeting was held on Wednesday, April 9 at the Lanakila Elementary School Cafeteria.  One of the largest crowds of the year heard an excellent presentation on Phalaenopsis cultivation.  Calvin brought to the meeting more than a dozen blooming Phalaenopsis, most of which were bred by him.  He demonstrated potting of the plants from baby (community pot) size plants to mature, overgrown plants.  Many in the audience took notes hoping to retain and put into practice many of the things he does to grow healthy Phalaenopsis plants with beautiful cascading flowers.   (Click on the photos below for a larger, high resolution image.  Click on the enlarged image to return to the page.)
