HOS Captures Best Display Trophy at Manoa Orchid Show

The Honolulu Orchid Society won the Best Display Trophy at the Manoa Orchid Show.  The display was constructed on Friday evening (May 2, 2014) under the leadership of Calvin and Sherry Abe.  Many members and friends pitched in with plants and construction of the display.  The Manoa Orchid Show was held on Saturday and Sunday (May 3 and 4, 2014) at the Noelani Elementary School.

The HOS Display featured Dendrobium Paul Pacquette which won the Best in Show Trophy.  The plant is owned by George and Judy Hidano.  (Click on the image for a larger and higher resolution image.)

Besides winning the Best Display Trophy, the HOS display had plants that garnered 10 best in category trophies.

The HOS DIsplay was nicely put together and arranged.  Co-chairman Calvin Abe said it went exactly as planned.

This was just part of the crew that constructed the display.  Construction of the display was completed at 7:30 PM.  The hard working crew had a late stew dinner made by Jackie Lai.
