Calvin Kumano will be the featured speaker at the April 13 General Membership Meeting of the Honolulu Orchid Society (HOS).  Calvin will be discussing the ins and outs of growing Phalaenopsis.  He has received numerous awards for his Phalaenopsis.  Last year his Phalaenopsis Momilani Girl ‘Lynne’ and Phalaenopsis Longshu Purple Jewel ‘Momilani’ received Award of Merit from the HOS Judges.  This year his Phalaenopsis won the Best of Phalaenopsis Trophies at both the 2016 Windward Orchid Show and the 2016 Kunia Orchid Show.  Calvin is not only a master at growing Phalaenopsis but excels in growing orchids of all kinds.  At the 2016 Kunia Orchid Show held in March, he received 8 trophies for his orchids, which is quite a remarkable feat.  Besides growing and breeding orchids, Calvin finds time to be President of the Aiea Orchid Club and Manoa Orchid Society.

The HOS meeting will be held in the Lanakila Elementary School cafeteria located at 717 North Kuakini Street beginning promptly at 7:00 PM.  There is ample free parking in front of the cafeteria.  Guests are more than welcome.  Refreshments will be served.
