Honolulu Orchid Society Show is this Weekend

The Honolulu Orchid Society’s 77th Annual Orchid Show and Plant Sale will open at 9:00 AM on Friday, October 14 at the Washington Middle School Cafeteria.  Orchid Jackpot is the theme for the three day Show.  Besides the Honolulu Orchid Society, orchid landscape displays will be put up by the Aiea Orchid Club, Ewa Orchid Society, Hawaii Kai Orchid Society, Kunia Orchid Society and the Windward Orchid Society.  Eight vendors including Carmela Orchids from the Big Island will be selling plants at the Show.  Five orchid culture classes will be held.  One of the featured lecturers will be Sheldon Takasaki of Carmela Orchids who will be speaking on vanda culture on Saturday at 11:00 AM.  The Show and Culture Classes are FREE.  There is ample free parking in front of the Cafeteria.

The Honolulu Orchid Society will be selling orchid mix, New Zealand Sphagnum Moss, wire hangers, pots, orchid books and baked goods from their Corner Store.  Proceeds from the Corner Store will be used to fund the Society’s activities.  The Society will also be selling Molokai Sweet Bread to support the Washington Middle School’s Special Olympic Team.
