Dendrobium Waianae Blush ‘Miya’ owned by H&R Nurseries won the Best in Show at the Honolulu Orchid Society’s 79th Annual Orchid Show. This is the third year in a row that this Dendrobium has won the Best in Show at the Honolulu Orchid Society’s shows. Besides winning the Best in Show trophy, the plant was given a very high award for cultural merit by the Society’s judges. The Orchid Show with a theme of Orchids by the Sea is being held at the Washington Middle School Cafeteria. The Show which began on Friday continues this weekend before closing on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at 3:00 PM. Hui Okika O Kunia won the Best Guest Display trophy and the Kaimuki Orchid Society won the Best Table Top Display trophy. Several vendors anchored by Carmela Orchids of the Big Island are selling a variety of orchids, air plants and cacti. The Society’s Country Store is also offering a variety of plants, orchid mix, fertilizer, pots and other goods at bargain prices. It’s not too late to go see the Show in the Washington Middle School Cafeteria located at 1633 South King Street.
