This is a Catasetum species endemic to Peru, found in wet, montane forests. The species is rarely seen in cultivation and can produce many flowers on a long, cascading inflorescence. The flowers are fragrant during the day, smelling like vanilla candy or ice cream. The regular color form has darker brown sepals and petals with a chartreuse lip. The most notable features of the flower are the reflexed lateral sepals, long, pointed lip with large basal callus, and the short trigger hairs.

    Thanks for sharing, so unusual.

When the plant gets more mature it might throw many flower spikes and create a spectacular species plant.

    Keep up your great work.
