This is a very unusual orchid species that is native to Mexico and South America. The leaves are decorative with white spots. Some call it a Christmas Orchid because it blooms around Christmas time and the flowers are red. I hesitated to buy this plant because I thought it was cool growing. However, the plant is thriving under warm conditions. This is a first bloom with a short flower spike. Mature plants give off flower spikes that are 12-18 inches tall.
