Want to learn how to grow and care for your Vanda orchids?  Come to the Honolulu Orchid Society meeting on Wednesday, April 12, 2017.  The meeting starts at 7:00 PM in the Lanakila Elementary School Cafeteria located at 717 North Kuakini Street.  The instructor will be Leland Nakai, one of the premier Vanda growers on the island.  Leland lives in Mililani and grows his prize winning Vandas in his backyard.  The meeting is open to the public.  There will be more »

It is with sorrow that we announce the passing of Benjamin T. Kodama, Sr.  The owner of Kodama Orchid Nursery, Ben, Sr., passed away in his sleep on Sunday, April 2.  He was 93 years old.  Ben, Sr., was an active member and long time supporter of the Honolulu Orchid Society.  He was president of the Society in 1959-1960, 1965-1966 and 1983.  In 1979, he was selected as an Honorary Member of the Honolulu Orchid Society for his outstanding contribution more »

Silent Auction to Be Held March 8, 2017

The Honolulu Orchid Society will be holding its annual Silent Auction beginning at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at the Lanakila Elementary School Cafeteria.  The Silent Auction is the Society’s major fund raiser to support orchid education and outreach programs.  The auction is being chaired by Ben Kodama, Jr.  More than 20 nurseries throughout the State and HOS members will be donating plants for the auction.  The public is more than welcome to participate in the event.  The more »
