Silent Auction Exceeds Expectations
The Silent Auction which was held during the March 13 General Membership meeting at the Lanakila Elementary School Cafeteria was a big hit with members and guests. Chairman Ben Kodama, Jr., reported that the people at the meeting were very generous with their bids. He said most bids exceeded the upset price by plenty. Only a few plants did not receive any bids and were auctioned off at the end in multiple lots. Ben, Jr., said a lot of credit goes to the 19 orchid nurseries throughout the State that donated quality plants. He also appreciated the donation of plants, fertilizer, dolomite and baked goods from members and guests. Ben, Jr., indicated that he was so hyped over the auction that he could not sleep for two days. The Society was well rewarded by his hard work (and lack of sleep). More than $2,200 was collected at the Auction. The Society thanks all the donors and people who participated in the Auction.

Thanks for sharing the pictures You should have also included the great “grinds” at the refreshment table. Our refreshment committee and members provide the best treats. More people should come and enjoy the orchid culture programs, fellowship, orchid plant sales and of course the healthy, ono food.
