Honolulu Orchid Society Officers and Trustees for 2019 Installed at Banquet Held at Hale Ikena

The Honolulu Orchid Society held its annual meeting and installation banquet on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at the Hale Ikena Restaurant.  54 members and guests attended the banquet.  Bradley Lau was installed as the President.

The banquet was a brunch which featured prime rib, chicken, fish, kalua pork, eggs, pan cake, sausage and other goodies. Marisa Maemori fills her plate with as much as the plate can hold.
Pam and Randy Tajima enjoyed their meal. Randy was a speaker at the November HOS meeting.
Amy Wong and Beaudine Ma met for the first time at the banquet. Amy will be joining HOS as a new member.
Craig Nakahara talks story with other members on the table. Craig is a student judge with HOS.
Dr. Hongwei Li and wife were guests of the Society. Hongwei spoke at the May HOS meeting.
The 2019 officers and trustees were sworn in by Scot Mitamura. Scot enlightened the crowd with a history of HOS.
Adam Almeida was honored as the HOS Orchidist of the Year for 2018. Kathy and Ian introduced the Orchidist of the Year with a humorous Academy Awards like Oscar presentation.
President Brad Lau presents a special recognition to Carol De Witt for her numerous contributions to the Society.
President Brad Lau presents Dr. Inge White with a $500 check for the Dr. Inge White Endowment fund. HOS pledged $2,500 for the fund. The $500 was the second payment installment.
The Society purchased plants for door prizes. The plants came from Calvin Kumano, H&R Nurseries and Kodama Orchid Nursery.
Blaine Fergerstrom, the webmaster for HOS, won the grand door prize. The basket of blooming phalaenopsis was donated by Calvin Kumano.
The banquet ended at 1:00 PM. Williette Wong needed a large box for all the plants that she received. Notice her smile.  Everyone who attended went home happy with their winnings.
