Most large flowered Lycastes are cool growing. Lys. Red Jewel is considered an intermediate to cool grower, but tolerates warm conditions very well. The plant can grow very large, and when grown well, can have six or more flowers on the newest pseudobulb. Lysudamola Red Jewel is deciduous, and sometimes blooms on leafless pseudobulbs. Lysudamuloa is a multi-generic cross comprising of Lycaste, Anguloa and Sudamerlycaste. Lycastes are related to Maxillarias and Zygopetalums.
I grow these in plastic pots in New Zealand sphagnum moss with some styrofoam peanuts for drainage. The plants are grown in a covered greenhouse, and out of the rain.
What an interesting orchid. The flower is so unique and I like colors!
